Halloween, or All Hallows’ Eve occurs on October 31, the night before All Saints’ Day. It is thought to incorporate traditions from pagan festivals honouring the harvest as well the dead. Activities include trick-or-treating, dressing up in scary costumes, playing pranks and pumpkin carving.
